Kb Moneyball and Passing Gear scored victories as Northfield Park Racino hosted two $20,000 divisions of the third leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series for freshman colt pacers on Saturday (Aug. 15).
Kb Moneyball (Dan Noble) recorded the fastest mile of the two, winning the second division by two and three-quarters lengths in a lifetime-best 1:53.3. On Fire (Chris Lems) was second followed by Mental Up (Kayne Kauffman) in third. Kb Moneyball has hit the board in four of five seasonal starts with two wins and two thirds while banking $21,057. The Heart Of Chewbacca gelding is trained by Deborah Swartz for owner Bradley Delaney.
Trained and driven by Kauffman, Passing Gear won the first division in gate-to-wire fashion in 1:54.3, scoring his first career victory in his fourth start. The Downbytheseaside gelding recorded fractions of :28.3, :58.4, and 1:27 en route to winning by three and three-quarters lengths. Kintsugi (Aaron Merriman) and Crownasaurus (Noble) rounded out the top three. Passing Gear is owned by Redline Racing Stables, Redracer, David Van Dusen and Daniel Schrock. He has $19,750 in earnings.
The Buckeye Stallion Series continues Monday (Aug. 17) with the third leg for freshman filly pacers at Northfield Park Racino.
