NEWS:

Federal Legislation, H.R. 7883 was introduced by Representative Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) July 30, 2020.  The official title is, "To direct the Secretary of Agriculture to establish a program under which the Secretary awards grants to States or State departments of agriculture for the purposes of providing support to agricultural fairs for losses sustained due to COVID-19."

H.R. 7883 would provide $500 million in Federal Agricultural Fair Rescue Grants to state, county, and local agricultural fairs that promote agribusiness products or expand agricultural markets through conservation programs, agricultural research, educational programs, or other events that encourage agriculture, horticulture, and the domestic arts.

The funding would provide much needed grants to states or state departments of agriculture based on the loss of attendance a state’s fairs have experienced in 2020 when compared to 2019. Those fairs that have faced the greatest financial hardship would receive priority.
