Son Of Ben Impressive in Scioto Slop
May 12, 2010
Son Of Ben broke his maiden in impressive fashion on Wednesday night at Scioto, drawing off to win in 1:59 over a rain-soaked Scioto Downs oval by 7-1/4 lengths.
Chris Page was in the bike for owner-trainer Earl Owings behind the sophomore son of Crown Time Big Ben, who was unraced last year as a juvenile. Page sent the bay gelding to the front from post eight and pulled away from his rivals with a final quarter in 28.2 seconds.
The L Train rallied in the stretch to get second money while Buckeye Ten finished third.
Another 3-year-old maiden winner on the card was Stretch Limo, a winner for owner-trainer-driver Jerry Lighthill in 2:02.3. He was winless in seven starts last year, but stalked the leader TV Ghost in the final half-mile and drew off to win in the stretch. He won over Mr Sam and Nubbin. |
