OSRC Approves Sale of Beulah & Thistledown

The Ohio State Racing Commission approved today the sale of Beulah Park and Thistledown to casino companies.
Penn National Gaming Inc. representatives had come before the commission in May regarding their purchase of Beulah Park, while Thistledown's sale has a closing date of July 31, for $43 million. Penn Gaming also owns Toledo's Raceway Park.
Representatives from Harrah’s said they had been "studying the Ohio market for years." Harrah’s owns all of Harrah’s Chester Casino & Racetrack in Pennsylvania, Harrah’s Louisiana Downs, and Players Bluegrass Downs in Kentucky; and has partial ownership in Turfway Park and Kentucky Downs in Kentucky.
Harrah's representative Greg miller said his company will "put its vast network of resources to work at Thistledown and become an integral part of the Ohio racing community." |
