Norma's Rose Keys Distaff Trifetca In Open Trot Favored Norma's Rose ($4.80) won Saturday;s $6,000 Open Trot at Northfield keying a trifetca that featured all female trotters. The Lee Blodgett-trainee stopped the timer in 1:59 and finished 1 3/4 lenghts ahead of Awsome Andrea, with Chust Chudy third. The male competitors in the race 4th through 8th. Blodgett shares title to the daughtrer of Master Lavec with Cindy Clonch. The win was her first this year and just her second this season as she kicked her lifetime earnigns to $168,007. Bettor Design Crusies in Top Pace Bettor Design ($3.60) stalked last week's winner Riverboat Baby in the $6,000 Open Pace and the patient drive by Ryan Stah paid off when the five-year-old Bettor's Delight gelding went by in the passing lane to win in 1:55.3. Riverboat Baby held second and Stringtowner, in his 2010 debut, finished third. Melissa Lynne Patterson owns Bettor Design, who has won two of his last three races for trainer Kent Sherman.
Charlino and Stahl each posted dirving doubles, but Aaron Merriman led the way with six winners. |
