Kakalay Wins 7 to Start Trek to 2,000
| June 30, 2009 Twenty-one-year-old Matt Kakaley wasted no time getting started on his second thousand wins, posting an impressive seven-bagger at Northfield Monday. Kakaley, who became the youngest driver in harness racing history to reach 1,000 wins Sunday at Tioga Downs, took both halves of the $27.00 early Daily Double, scoring with Sand Jamie ($5.20) and I Be Strollin ($8.80). He also won with City Dragon ($4.20) in the 4th race and then with Mor Of That ($6.20) in the 9th. His last three wins of the night came with Larry Clabaugh-trainees, as he took the 10th with Doug Neely’s Romance’s Thunder ($4.00); the 12th with Calvin Lamb’s Brother Bud ($5.00) who overcame post eight, and then with Neely’s Up Front Carl ($3.20) in the 13th. Kakaley has now posted 1008 career wins. John D. Wengerd tripled and Dan Kennedy posted a driving double on the Monday card. |
