LEADERS OF THE PACK: Aaron Merriman entered Monday leading all drivers in North America in wins, with 355 victories. George Napolitano Jr. was second, with 287, followed by George Brennan, with 284. Dave Palone (283) and Tim Tetrick (267) completed the top five.
Tetrick led the way in earnings, with $5.05 million, while Brennan was second, with $4.47 million. Jason Bartlett ($3.82 million), Ron Pierce ($3.79 million), and Brian Sears ($3.73 million) rounded out the top five.
DRIVING MILESTONES: Eric Goodell, 36, got career win No. 4,000 on June 18 with pacer Answer The Bell in the 12th race at the Meadowlands Racetrack.
Goodell, who was involved in a racing accident earlier on the card but was able to continue driving the remainder of the night, entered this year having won more than 300 races in eight consecutive seasons. He set a career high with 489 in 2007 and set a career best in purses with $8.58 million in 2008.
Entering Monday, Stephen Mahar was 13 wins from 5,000 career victories. |
