Buckeye Man Repeats in Dream Of Glory Series

Buckeye Man won the fastest of three divisions of the Dream Of Glory Series at Scioto Downs on Friday night.

He hit the wire in 1:56.4 for Ohio Hall of Famer Chip Noble. Noble moved Buckeye Man before the half-mile marker and then the 3-year-old gelding sprinted to the lead in the third quarter. From that point, only the final margin was in doubt as the son of Jailhouse Jesse coasted to the wire 3-3/4 lengths ahead of the front-runner Not To Be Denied. Favored Too Good To Pass overcame an early break to claim third place.

It was the second win in three starts for Buckeye Man, who is co-owned by trainer Dee Hotton and R.R. Fuller. He won a division of the first leg of the Dream Of Glory last week in 1:58.1.

J H Spur was given a confident drive by trainer-driver John Konesky III as the 3-year-old gelding took another division of the Dream Of Glory in 1:57.4. Konesky moved his trotter to the lead coming past the grandstand the first time and no one could catch him. The 3-5 favorite Hezahumer closed to claim second money over Over Spurred.

It was the first start of the season for the son of Pegasus Spur owned by Maryann Konesky and Patrick Konesky.

Surclasser won the first division of the Dream Of Glory Series by a nose for driver Jeff Nisonger. The Jailhouse Jesse gelding prevailed as the 4-5 favorite by holding off the closing rush of Nessa Rose. Pegasus Point was third. It was the fourth win in seven starts this season for Surclasser, who is trained by Chad Williamson for owner Charles W. Wilson.

Trotters American Flyer and Life A Breeze dead-heated in 1:56.4 in the evening’s fifth race. Driver David Ehrenberg sent American Flyer to the front at the start and seemed comfortably in hand until Chris Page popped Like A Breeze out of the pocket coming in the stretch.
